Ellsworth Adhesives Europe Launches Primerless Silicone Encapsulant
May 14, 2019 | Ellsworth Adhesives EuropeEstimated reading time: 2 minutes
Ellsworth Adhesives are now taking orders for the newly-launched Dowsil (Dow Corning) EI-2888 Primerless Silicone Encapsulant.
Dowsil EI-2888 is an optically clear encapsulant designed for professional LED lighting applications. The 100 percent silicone encapsulant provides LEDs with essential protection from moisture and surface contaminants. Dowsil EI-2888 has unique optimum rheological properties which allow it to be used with light fixtures in a variety of shapes and forms without compromising its superior optical performance.
A two-part protective material, Dowsil EI-2888 cures at room temperature with optional heat acceleration. It can be applied with automatic static or dynamic metered mixing, manual mixing or by flow, pour or needle dispensing equipment. The novel encapsulant is insensitive to inhibition and material reversion, a traditional problem for applications in enclosed spaces at high temperatures. EI-2888 is unlike any other silicone encapsulant on the market as its patented composition does not contain any platinum, making it a cost-effective and reliable choice.
Dowsil EI-2888 is particularly suitable for encapsulating rigid and flexible circuit boards for indoor and outdoor LED’s, as well as explosion proof and high ingress protection rated luminaire. Made with advanced silicone technology, EI-2888 allows for primerless adhesion to a wide variety of substrates and is UL 94 compliant.
