ViTrox Corporation Berhad (ViTrox) and Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman (UTAR) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to promote science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) education.
“Seeing the similarities between ViTrox’s core values and UTAR’s educational philosophy, it is no doubt that these values would bring us closer and take us to the steadfast growth simultaneously,” Professor IR Academician Dato’ Dr Chuah Hean Teik, UTAR’s president said.
Under the agreement, both parties will kick-start the R&D project where ViTrox works closely with UTAR’s Faculty of Engineering and Green Technology (FEGT) and Faculty of Information Communication and Technology (FICT) for student development activities in the northern region. Apart from that, ViTrox will provide industrial training and professional development courses for UTAR’s graduands to keep their skills sharp in a fast-paced industry. Furthermore, other significant projects will also be elevated one after another through this MoU.
With an aim to acquire the benefits from Industry 4.0, ViTrox sees UTAR as a potential hub to incubate more young talents in the field of STEM. UTAR, on the other hand, strives to grow a sustainable ecosystem along with ViTrox by educating the importance of science and engineering studies to the younger generation. This is to streamline all local talents into the homegrown company and advocate the spirit of technopreneurship. That said, they believe this attempt would rise more SMEs in Malaysia.
Chu Jenn Weng, president and CEO of ViTrox, said, “We believe such university-industry collaboration will help us to aspire the advantages of Industry 4.0 as it creates a local talent pipeline to the industry for an unwavering ecosystem.”
