NCA CEO Michael Tieu Named Finalist for EY Entrepreneur of the Year SW Region
June 10, 2021 | NCAEstimated reading time: 2 minutes
NCA, a U.S.-based electronic manufacturing partner to entrepreneurs and OEMs nationwide, is proud to announce its CEO and founder, Mr. Michael Tieu, has been named a finalist for the EY Entrepreneur of the Year program in the Southwest Region.
Tieu, a Vietnamese immigrant who escaped turmoil in 1979, entered the contract manufacturing industry in the 1990’s, when he worked for a staffing agency and learned every part of the electronics manufacturing process. When he realized there was a gap in the staffing industry, Tieu founded Pro-Tech Staffing, a firm serving the electronics manufacturing industry that has grown to serve multinational corporations and small businesses alike. In 2006, Tieu opened the doors of NCA, bringing to fruition a 20-year dream to open a contract manufacturing company. Pro-Tech and NCA have both grown fruitfully since their foundings, due to Tieu’s strong leadership and knack for finding the right people for the right job.
“It’s an honor to join the ranks of so many esteemed award winners in the Entrepreneur of the Year program,” Tieu said. “I wouldn’t be here without the support from my family and excellent leadership teams, the ability to pursue my personal American Dream here in the U.S. and the passion of getting knocked down and standing right back up, stronger than before. I’d like to extend extreme appreciation to the selection team at EY for choosing my story.”
The EY Entrepreneur of the Year Award began in 1986 as a single award and has since grown alongside its sponsor, Ernst & Young, to include multiple categories and national winners. The founders and CEO of Toast, Inc. — a software platform for restaurants — earned the 2020 Overall Award, while 10 other business leaders finished as national winners.
“It’s a no-brainer to choose Mike when you’re looking at who embodies the entrepreneurial spirit,” NCA President Stephen Lehocky said. “Ever since I met Mike, he’s been talking with me about ways to improve our processes, better serve our partners’ needs and change the contract manufacturing industry. He doesn’t have an off-switch when it comes to pushing his companies further and I think that will prove to be the difference between him and the other finalists.”
Tieu joins 45 other Southwest Region finalists in the competition to represent the Region in the national awards. The Southwest virtual awards celebration will take place on August 4 and employees in both of Tieu’s company will watch earnestly to see how their leader finishes.
