Libra Industries, a privately held electronics manufacturing services (EMS) provider, recently sponsored the Christopher R. Howell Memorial Foundation's 12th Annual Golf Outing at the Kirtland Country Club. During the event, Libra Industries CEO Rod Howell awarded two scholarships totaling $20,000. The scholarships include the Christopher R. Howell Memorial Foundation College Scholarship and Breakthrough Charter School Scholarship.

The Christopher R. Howell Memorial Foundation awards scholarships to graduating seniors of Kirtland High School who have demonstrated strength of character and a desire to succeed both in and out of the classroom. Renee Rahz is the 2017 Kirtland High School Scholarship recipient. The Christopher R. Howell Foundation is thrilled to present Rahz with a $10,000 scholarship to pursue an education, which includes attending Lakeland Community College to study either Creative Writing or Digital Arts.

The Foundation was established as a memorial to Christopher R. Howell, a Kirtland resident whose unconditional love and compassion for children left a mark on all who came in contact with him. Chris passed away in 2001 at the age of 38. He was the VP of Libra Industries for 21 years at the time of his death.

Libra Industries CEO Rod Howell also presented a donation of $10,000 to the Breakthrough Charter School Scholarship. Breakthrough Schools is a network of high-performing public charter schools whose mission is to develop a growing network of distinctive school options that prepare Cleveland area students for success in life. In the 2017-18 school year, Breakthrough will serve 3,400 students in grades K-8 across 11 high-quality schools, representing three unique education models.
