Vision Engineering Launches New Measurement Capabilities with the Swift PRO Series
September 14, 2017 | Vision EngineeringEstimated reading time: 3 minutes
Vision Engineering announces the launch of the Swift PRO series, non-contact measurement systems designed to deliver fast and accurate 2 and 3-axis measurements. The Swift PRO series includes Swift PRO Duo, Swift PRO Cam and Swift PRO Elite.
Based on Vision Engineering’s best-selling Swift Family metrology products, the Swift PRO offers enhanced functionality and ease of use. The new range is available with optical, video or both optical and video measurement capabilities. All optical systems are built using Vision Engineering’s patented, award winning, Dynascope® technology, which gives operators an eyepiece-less and ergonomic viewing experience. The video systems are equipped with a high definition video camera and easy to use software. The Swift PRO is available with either an 8” x 4” (200mm x 100mm) or 6” x 4” (150mm x 100mm) measuring stage.
The new features built into the Swift PRO series include illumination enhancements, an integrated Z axis tape encoder, and a reduced number of system components and cabling.
Improvements to the illumination results in improved edge detection, especially for difficult to view components. The illumination of the Swift PRO series can now be controlled via the software and the addition of iris control to the substage lighting provides even illumination across the field of view. The surface quadrant LED lighting is also controlled through the software. These key improvements give users greater control for both surface and substage lighting, delivering superior edge detection especially for difficult components.
Every Swift PRO stand is 3-axis measurement ready for the easy addition of a Z axis encoder, which simply mounts into place through pre-drilled holes. This feature can be purchased as an upgrade kit for a Swift Pro system.
The overall design of the Swift PRO has been improved for ease of use. The power supply unit has the option for built-in Metlogix PCBs to support their M-Series software, eliminating the need for a separate Metlogix box.
“We are extremely excited to announce the Swift PRO. The features we now offer through the Swift Pro will provide users with advanced measurement capabilities while maintaining the simplicity and ease of use which made the Swift Family so successful”, comments Simon Cosham, Vision Engineering’s North American Metrology Manager.
Similar to the Swift Family, the Swift PRO series requires minimal training and can be used by shift workers or advanced users. Ease of use increases repeatability among users, reduces operator errors and makes reporting stress free.

The Swift PRO comes with a choice of either Heidenhain’s QC3000 embedded controller or Metlogix M-Series measuring software.
Swift PRO Duo
Swift PRO Duo is the world’s only non-contact measuring system to incorporate both video and optical technologies, allowing for seamless switching between video and optical measurements. Dual technology increases accuracy especially on materials with hard to detect edges.
Swift PRO Cam
Swift PRO Cam is the perfect entry-level video measuring and inspection system. With its HD video camera and large measuring stage the system operator can simply “place & measure” a wide range of precision parts.
Swift PRO Elite
Swift PRO Elite is a simple optical measuring microscope providing accurate measurements, even for notoriously difficult subjects such as black or transparent plastics. The patented optical viewer (head) clearly defines edges and offers superb resolution and true-color images.
The Swift PRO Duo will be on display at Quality 2017, booth 1720.
