Nordson ASYMTEK to Exhibit New Conformal Coating Line and Dispensing Solutions with SmartTec at SMTconnect

Reading time ( words)

Nordson ASYMTEK will exhibit its new conformal coating line and dispensing solutions at SMTconnect, Nuremberg, Germany, with SmartTec GmbH in Stand 4-101 and in the Fraunhofer IZM Future Packaging Line Stand 5-434. In addition, Gerd Schulze, key account manager, Nordson ASYMTEK, will present "Protecting Electronics -- Adhesive and potting options and practical examples" at SMTconnect Technology Days. SMTconnect is being held May 7-9, 2019.

On display will be Nordson ASYMTEK's:

  • Conformal Coating Line Solution that coats, cures, and inspects. This compact, flexibly configured line delivers closed-loop process controls while saving 50% in footprint compared to other conformal coating lines.
  • Vantage Series Fluid Dispensing System for advanced assembly technologies that involve high-speed and precise volume dispensing, tight keep-out zones, or dispensing of thin and accurate lines.
  • Helios SD-960 Large Volume Fluid Dispensing System for large volume single- and two-component applications including potting, sealing, gasketing, and structural adhesives. The system supports highly abrasive thermal interface materials (TIMs), silicones, epoxies, and grease.

"SMTconnect will be an excellent time to interact with people looking for dispensing or conformal coating equipment, application support, or solutions to their conformal coating and fluid dispensing needs," said Michel van de Vijver, general manager EMEA, Nordson ASYMTEK. "The stringent quality demands of Europe's automotive industry have put increased responsibility on companies to improve their processes. Nordson ASYMTEK experts at SMTconnect can help you find how to ensure your process quality."

A Not So Surprising Focus for Flex in the XR Realm

03/14/2018 | Dan Feinberg
Dan Feinberg has been covering augmented, virtual, and mixed-reality for I-Connect007 for the last few years. He recently met with Eric Braddom, VP of Extended Reality (XR) Product Management for Flex, a company that is involved in this disruptive technology. In this interview, Dan and Eric discuss the future of augmented, mixed and/or virtual reality, or as Flex calls it, "extended reality."

Solder Ball Joint Reliability with Electroless Ni/Pd/Au Plating – Influence of Electroless Pd Plating Film Thickness

06/20/2017 | Yoshinori Ejiri, et al., Hitachi Chemical Co. Ltd
This paper investigated the influence of Pd film thickness in electroless Ni/Pd/Au plating on the solder ball joint reliability. It was found out that the shape and thickness of the intermetallic compounds (IMCs) are among the key factors that affect solder joint reliability after multiple reflow cycles and thermal aging, respectively.

The Need for 3D AOI

06/05/2017 | Stephen Las Marias, I-Connect007
While the coplanarity of height-sensitive devices such as BGA packages and leaded components can be inspected in 2D using multi-angled colored lighting and side-angle cameras, these will be susceptible to an increase in false calls, a need for additional programming and cycle time, and possible escapes. These factors underscore the need for 3D technology in inspection strategies.
