Foxconn Technology Group has elected a new chairman, Young Liu, succeeding Terry Gou, who has stepped down to facilitate his bid for Taiwan's presidency, according to Digitimes. Liu, the head of the company's semiconductor division, was elected by the Foxconn's new board of directors formed after the company's shareholders meeting on June 21.

Gou presided over the shareholders' meeting—his last as chairman—at the beginning, but left shortly after delivering an opening address. The rest of the meeting was presided over by Lu Fang-ming, a member of the newly formed decision-making committee for the post-Gou era at Foxconn.
