Specialty Coating Systems to Exhibit at IDTechEx Show

Specialty Coating Systems will exhibit in Booth E15 at the IDTechEx Show November 20-22, 2019 at the Santa Clara Convention Center in California. The company will exhibit its Parylene conformal coating, which include ParyFree—its halogen-free variant of Parylene. With a notable history of anticipating and responding to industry trends and regulations, SCS developed ParyFree in support of the global initiatives that continue to drive toward the elimination of halogens in electronics.

Like other commercially available Parylene variants, ParyFree is applied through a vapor deposition process that results in an ultra-thin, uniform, pinhole-free conformal coating. The thin film forms at a molecular level to fully encapsulate components and devices, offering complete protection and increased reliability of intricate, complex electronic devices.

To verify its efficacy as a halogen-free material, SCS ParyFree coatings were tested in accordance with BS EN 14582:2007 at an independent testing facility. The results show that there are no detectable levels of chlorine, bromine, fluorine or iodine in ParyFree coatings, validating the coating’s use in halogen-free applications.

Available exclusively at Specialty Coating Systems, ParyFree coating offers manufacturers the same host of beneficial properties that they have come to expect from the Parylene family, but with improved barrier properties over traditional halogen-free variants. In addition, SCS ParyFree-coated electronics have been shown to meet IPX7 and IPX8 test requirements, demonstrating their usefulness to provide waterproof protection to electronic device and components.

SCS is a leader in Parylene coating services and technologies with coating facilities throughout the Americas, Europe and Asia. Additionally, the company has more than 45 years of applications experience in the industrial and consumer electronics, aerospace, defense, transportation and medical device industries.

Book Excerpt: The Printed Circuit Assembler’s Guide to Smart Data

12/16/2020 | Sagi Reuven and Zac Elliott, Siemens Digital Industries Software
Whenever we discuss data, keep in mind that people have been collecting data, verifying it, and translating it into reports for a long time. And if data is collected and processes are changed automatically, people still will be interpreting and verifying the accuracy of the data, creating reports, making recommendations, solving problems, tweaking, improving, and innovating. Whatever data collection system is used, any effort to digitalize needs to engage and empower the production team at the factory. Their role is to attend to the manufacturing process but also to act as the front line of communications and control.
