Indium Corporation’s Vareha-Walsh to Share Insights at World Congress of Smart Materials 2020

Reading time ( words)

Indium Corporation’s Donna Vareha-Walsh, Director of Sales and Global Supply Chain and Trade Compliance, will share her industry expertise at the 6th Annual World Congress of Smart Materials 2020, March 11-13, 2020, in Barcelona, Spain.

Indium and gallium are perceived as critical and rare metals for the CIG target market. Both metals are often thought of as limited in supply, as well as volatile from a price perspective. In CIG Supply Chain and Recycling, Vareha-Walsh will discuss the plentiful world supplies of indium and gallium and their associated recyclability. Her presentation will show an overview of supply and demand drivers, including the recycling impact and history of price drivers. A review of the outcome from the recent Fanya Metal Exchange auctions on supply and price will also be covered.

Vareha-Walsh is Director of Sales for Indium Corporation’s Metals, Compounds, Solar, and Recycling business unit. She also leads the Supply Chain and Trade Compliance functions. She is responsible for sourcing and sales of critical raw materials, such as indium, gallium, germanium, tin, and silver for Indium Corporation’s manufacturing operations, as well as the trading and reclaim business. Vareha-Walsh has more than 15 years of metals market experience from numerous roles and responsibilities, including Director of Global Procurement for a global premium alloy company and Director of Metallurgical Operations and Procurement for a global tungsten based business. Additional experience includes finance responsibilities as a Business Unit Controller, sales expertise as Director of Sales and a New Business Development Manager, and participation in the metals recycling and scrap/reclaim markets. She earned a bachelor’s degree in finance from Duquesne University and an MBA from the University of Pittsburgh. She is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), holds certificates in leadership development and manufacturing excellence, and has a Lean Green Belt. She also is on the Board of Directors of the MMTA, a global minor metals trade association.

Four Silver Linings in the Stormy Clouds of Pandemic, Supply Chain, and Inflation

09/14/2022 | Dr. Ronald C. Lasky, Indium Corp.
It may be difficult to see any bright spots in the current and recent economic situation. We have all experienced the devastation of the pandemic, supply chain issues, and most recently, inflation. However, as a senior technologist for an international materials supplier (Indium Corporation) and a professor of engineering at an Ivy League research university (Dartmouth College), I offer these four silver linings for those of us in the electronics industry.
