Digicom Supports Return of Onshore Assembly with Prioritized Intellectual Property Protection
November 19, 2020 | Digicom Electronics, Inc.Estimated reading time: 2 minutes
Digicom Electronics, Inc., a technology and quality-driven Electronics Manufacturing Services (EMS) company based in Oakland, CA, is positioned to support the ongoing trend to onshore electronics manufacturing back to America. For decades there has been ample discussion throughout the electronics industry weighing the costs and benefits of offshore manufacturing. Between the ever-increasing complexity of electronics supply chain and the economic turbulence caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, quality-assured onshore manufacturing is more important than ever. Digicom remains a leading company at the forefront of the domestic manufacturing industry.
A Recent Update from the Department of Defense
Recently, the United States Department of Defense (DOD) commented on the current state of onshoring electronics manufacturing. Ellen M. Lord – who holds the title of Under Secretary of Defense for Acquisition and Sustainment at the DOD – said that due to the off-shore manufacturing and assembly of most electronics, we can no longer “clearly identify the pedigree” of our electronics products in the United States.
With convoluted, untraceable overseas manufacturing history of most electronics products, whoever manufacturers the electronics can potentially hold the keys to the product's backdoors. In order to protect companies’ Intellectual Property (IP) and guarantee the security of software systems, they can entrust the manufacturing with a reputable, ITAR certified electronic assemblies producer like Digicom Electronics.
How Digicom Electronics Manufacturing Safeguards Your Intellectual Property
The United States manufacturing industry has some of the most stringent quality control and regulatory systems in the world. If building certified electronic assembly products in America, companies have to follow a strict code of ethical conduct and precision production processes.
As a result of that rigorous quality assurance system, companies can rest assured that domestically manufactured products from Digicom Electronics are built with the utmost quality while guaranteeing the security of IP. We have the fully traceable, ITAR-certified trail of careful documentation to prove it.
What Digicom Does to Protect Customers’ Intellectual Property
- We Are ITAR Compliant – Digicom maintains ITAR registration and compliance. The International Traffic and Arms program essentially lays out a strict blueprint for quality control and information sharing. Compliance with all ITAR requirements ensures that the entire manufacturing process is meticulously documented, and that all customers’ information is handled with the utmost care and confidentiality.
- Customer NDA agreements – As part of compliance with ITAR, we sign and uphold binding NDA agreements with our customers, vendors, contractors and all other partners. These NDA agreements legally guarantee that sensitive product designs and specifications will be treated as top-secret information.
- Quality Control Systems – All products are manufactured with adherence to the most stringent procedures in addressing the care of customer property. These include clear identification and care of customer property on site, to careful and discrete dissemination of design files to outsourced entities for fabricated parts. Digicom takes extra care to protect and control documents during production and includes archiving for safe storage after production for many years. Meticulous and various certified quality control systems include AS9100:2016 Rev D, ISO 9001:2015, ISO 13485:2016 and many others.
Made in America
Digicom is a proud American company. Our customers’ products are assembled right here in the United States. That ensures precision and confidentiality are woven into the DNA of our electronics, all the way down beneath the circuit boards. There’s no worry about malicious firmware backdoors or subpar craftsmanship. We deliver quality electronic assemblies exactly as imagined while exceeding every manufacturing expectation along the way.
