ASM Expands Presence in Brazil with Appointment of Manaus-Based Sales Manager
July 20, 2022 | ASMEstimated reading time: 1 minute
ASM Assembly Systems (ASM) has appointed Achim Meyer to the position of Regional Sales Manager for Manaus, Brazil, the company announced. This is the latest addition to ASM’s growing team in the South American territory, as it strengthens its internal sales, technical support and external channel network in response to increasing demand for its SIPLACE placement equipment, DEK stencil printing platforms and Open Automation software capabilities.
With nearly 30 years of SIPLACE technical and key account management experience, Meyer brings deep knowledge and a global perspective to his new role. Having joined ASM (then Siemens AG) in the mid-1990s after working in production for Siemens Mobile, Achim has held positions in field service, sales and global project management in support of customers all over the world – from Germany to China to Korea and even a previous assignment in Brazil. His exceptional technical depth and the unique ability to align customer needs and expectations with the most optimal ASM solution will provide a valuable, holistic skill set for electronics customers in the region.
Several leading EMS firms have a solid presence in Manaus, with consumer electronics dominating much of the production landscape. As Meyer explains, this dynamic makes high-efficiency manufacturing even more critical for a competitive edge.
“In the past, productivity enhancement has been all about machine capability,” he says. “While that is still vital, of course, reducing the cost of ownership through automation, line intelligence and quality precision are what can make the difference for high-yield, maximum output operations. This is what ASM delivers and what I plan to help customers implement. Software is key and ASM leads the market in innovation, hands down!”
With the new addition to the Brazil team, ASM now has local, direct sales coverage in all major manufacturing regions in the country, as well as technical support, engineering, and in-country spare parts access. “With such a comprehensive approach, we will deliver more competitiveness and lower cost of ownership to our customers,” Meyer concludes. “I look forward to showing customers how ASM’s transformative technology portfolio can accelerate their business success.”
