The Women’s Leadership Program (WLP), an SMTA-sponsored organization that strives to promote diversity and inclusion in engineering and manufacturing fields, announces that it will host invited presentations about technology innovations and career advancements on Tuesday, November 1, 2022. The free event will take place from 1-6 p.m. with an agenda designed to promote women in engineering fields. Everyone is welcome to attend.

The first event, co-chaired by Tanya Martin of the SMTA and Jessica Molloy of ZESTRON, will take place from 1-3:15 p.m. Three invited presentations focusing on technology innovations and career advancement will provide a valuable resource to attendees. Carolyn Duran, Ph.D. of Intel Corporation, will discuss the importance of lifelong learning, Loretta Renard of REMAP will focus on changing the perception of manufacturing, and Jayshree Seth, Ph.D. of 3M, will share information about leaders and ladders.

There will be a brief 15-minute refreshment break following the presentations.

Dallas SMTA Expo: Open for Business

This year’s theme was “Texas is Open for Business,” and the turnout seemed to reflect that observation. We saw a steady stream of attendees arriving throughout the day, and most of them stayed through the barbecue lunch and happy hour. Dallas SMTA Expo and Tech Forum is becoming much more than a regional show. I met exhibitors and attendees from around the southwest, and a few from across the country. The Plano Event Center has a configurable layout that can accommodate events of all sizes, and next year’s show is expected to be even bigger.

As IPC is adhering to California Department of Public Health Guidelines, proof of COVID vaccination or a negative test will be required to attend IPC APEX EXPO 2022. IPC has partnered with InHouse Physicians (iHP) for attendees to upload their proof of vaccine or negative COVID test results in advance of arrival at IPC APEX EXPO. Once information is uploaded via the iHP link, a trained medical professional will review the information within 24 hours and provide an email confirmation with a green check mark indicating they’ve been cleared for entry.
