Electronic Manufacturer Silicon Mountain Is 20 Years Strong

Silicon Mountain, a leading electronic manufacturing company, is pleased to announce the company's 20-year anniversary. The family-owned and operated company is strategically located in the heart of the Pacific Northwest.

Prior to founding Silicon Mountain, Kris Townsend and his father, Wayne Townsend, started in the electronics industry servicing the retail arena, focusing on Digital Satellites and Home Theater. In the mid-1990s, when retail electronics became more prevalent in big box stores, they decided to sell and get into electronic manufacturing. For six years they worked for a large EMS provider in Austin, TX – Wayne Townsend as Finance and Kris Townsend in Operations.

In 2001 that company was taken over by a parent company and the father and son team saw it as an opportunity to start fresh in the electronic manufacturing world. They decided on the Boise, Idaho area, in the Northwest Region, as it was an area that was not highly utilized and had great geographic potential, and started Silicon Mountain in the summer of 2002.

Today, the Silicon Mountain team has more than 50 years of combined engineering and manufacturing expertise. The company has built a team of dedicated employees who are proud of their work and focused on providing clients – from start-ups to fortune 500 companies – with the highest quality products possible.

The company’s business model is built with a clear understanding of the importance of time to market and supply chain availability. This makes Silicon Mountain a partner that is capable of both low- and high-volume production, allowing customers to quickly go from product development to market. The company focuses on Surface Mount Technology (SMT), Through-hole, Mechanical Assembly and Higher Level Assembly (HLA).

Silicon Mountain maintains ISO 9001:2015 certification because it is dedicated to providing customers with consistent products as well as continual improvement. The company is committed to keeping both its community and team safe from hazardous materials by being RoHS compliant, and it currently has a lead-free facility.
