May 19, 2010 |Estimated reading time: 1 minute
OTTAWA, ON, Canada — Semiconductor/microelectronics reverse engineering and patent infringement analysis specialist Chipworks performed a teardown of the KIN TWO cell phone. The cellular device is manufactured by Sharp for Verizon Wireless.
Design win highlights include:
- Qualcomm QSC6085 CDMA Processor
- Texas Instruments WL1271A Wireless LAN/Bluetooth/FM Radio
- Sony IMX046 Image Sensor (an unexpected win compared to previously reported specifications)
- Texas Instruments TPS658600 Power Management for Li Battery
- Wolfson WM8903L Stereo Codec
- Synaptics 1021A Touch Screen Controller
The heart of the device is the NVIDIA Tegra APX2600 processor that is part of a four die stack, which includes the Numonyx memory. Numonyx chips have Intel-like markings, and inside this one, we find the STMicroelectronics flash and two Hynix DRAM dies. Read more about advanced packaging technologies.
