IMTS Partners with SME for 2010 Emerging Technology Center
January 27, 2010 |Estimated reading time: 1 minute
MCLEAN, VA — Showcasing innovative technological developments for the manufacturing industry, IMTS – The International Manufacturing Technology Show 2010, September 13-18 in Chicago, will present the Emerging Technology Center (ETC) in partnership with the Society of Manufacturing Engineers (SME). The theme for the 2010 ETC is "Knowledge-Based:" applying knowledge-based management across the full spectrum including technology, manufacturing, people, and business.
The ETC made its debut at IMTS 2004 and is the place where the manufacturing community gathers to view the future of manufacturing technology. Past innovations featured in the ETC include nanotechnology, now commonly used throughout the industry, as well as the 2008 debut of MTConnect, a series of open standards that address manufacturing systems interoperability on the shop floor. Throughout IMTS 2010, the Emerging Technology Center will be located in the North Building lobby of McCormick Place.
"SME is well-known as a primary resource for independent education and dissemination of technology," said Peter Eelman, VP, exhibitions & communications for IMTS.
IMTS – International Manufacturing Technology Show is held every other year at McCormick Place in Chicago, Ill. IMTS 2010 will run September 13–18, 2010. IMTS attracts more than 92,000 visitors from every level of industry and more than 106 countries. The show is owned and managed by AMT – The Association For Manufacturing Technology. www.IMTS.com
