September 24, 2009 |Estimated reading time: 1 minute
SCHAUMBURG, IL — IPC — Association Connecting Electronics Industries honored George Milad of Uyemura International Corp. with the IPC Presidents Award at the IPC Midwest Conference & Exhibition yesterday. This prestigious award is presented to IPC members who have exhibited ongoing leadership in IPC and have made significant contributions of their time and talent to the association and the electronic interconnect industry. IPC also presented awards to volunteers from its standards development groups.
Milad has nearly 25 years experience in the printed board (PCB) manufacturing industry and serves as the national accounts manager of technology at Uyemura International Corp. His first foray into IPC standards development committee participation was in 1995 when Milad served on the 4-23a Electrolytic Plating Task Group. In 2002, he became chair of the 4-14 Plating Processes Subcommittee and vice chair of the 4-10 Fabrication Processes General Committee, rising to serve as chair of that committee in May 2005.
In 2003, Milad joined the IPC Technical Activities Executive Committee (TAEC) and in 2008, became a “Lifetime TAEC Member” in recognition of his five years of consecutive participation. Within the past decade, Milad has received five committee-related awards for his standards development activities and leadership.
On the IPC technical education front, Milad has been a regular presenter and moderator. He has served as professional development instructor for several workshops and tutorials on plating processes and tin whiskers. He has also published works on electrolytic plating and metallic surface finishes as hot air solder leveling (HASL) alternatives.
“IPC and the entire electronic interconnect industry are fortunate to have George Milad contributing his time and expertise to IPC standards development and technical and professional development events. His work has enriched our organization and the industry,” said Denny McGuirk, IPC president & CEO. “We hope George continues to share his knowledge and provide ongoing leadership for many years to come.”
