productronica 2009 Debuts Munich Electronics Summit
May 11, 2009 |Estimated reading time: 1 minute
MUNICH, Germany Despite a difficult worldwide economic climate, productronica 2009 will host most of the world's leading electronics production manufacturers at its biennial productronica trade fair November 10 to 13 in Munich. The Munich Electronics Summit, held on the first day of the trade fair, will become an annual event linking productronica with electronica. The trade fair also has a new slogan, "Innovation all along the line."
Although many exhibitors have experienced revenue declines approaching 60%, seriously affecting their investment activities, most will appear at the show, some by occupying smaller spaces. Klaus Dittrich, CEO of Messe München, explained, "We will present productronica 2009 as an event that offers both exhibitors and visitors more utility value thanks to a large number of innovations. We have seen a crisis-induced fall of 30% in the amount of exhibition space. Just like in previous years, the trade fair will again cover the entire value-added chain."
Dittrich sees a positive outcome despite negative economic times. "The innovations that we are introducing at productronica 2009 will be followed by further innovations at productronica 2011." The 2009 show will be marketed under the slogan "Innovation all along the line," since industry innovations have become more necessary than ever before. The focus areas will highlight future-oriented products and processes from leading suppliers. They also will cover growth markets: photovoltaic manufacturing, micro/nano production, organic electronics, and electronic manufacturing services (EMS). There will be ample opportunities at the show for exchanging knowledge and holding discussions.
The Munich Electronics Summit, held on the first day of the trade fair, will become an annual event linking productronica with electronica, shows that are held on alternate years. It will include a public keynote address, the CEO Round Table (a discussion forum featuring world-renowned group CEOs), and an exclusive networking night for CEOs and top managers of large enterprises. Dr. Jürgen W. Gromer, former president of Tyco Electronics, will host the summit.
