April 7, 2009 |Estimated reading time: Less than a minute
WASHINGTON D.C. Jennie S. Hwang, Ph.D., was appointed to the Chair for the Board on Assessment of NIST (National Institute of Standards and Technology) Electronics and Electrical Engineering Laboratory, U.S. Department of Commerce.
The primary focuses of the panel are to assess the adequacy of the operational budgets, facilities, equipment and human resources and the technical merits of the current programs relative to state-of-the-art programs worldwide. The panel is also charged to assess the degree to which programs achieve the stated objectives and desired impact.
The overall goal is to achieve NIST's mission to promote U.S. innovation and industrial competitiveness by advancing measurement science, standards, and technology in ways that enhance economic security and improve the quality of life, in line with the America COMPETES Act and the President's American Competitiveness Initiative (ACI).
