APEX Product Showcase
December 31, 1969 |Estimated reading time: 6 minutes
Following are more new products to debut at APEX, as well as upgraded and updated equipment and materials that will be displayed at the IPC APEX Expo, March 31 to April 2 in Las Vegas.
Intelligent Feeder SystemThe second-generation IFS-X2 RFID intelligent feeder system with traceability provides enhanced graphics and an improved user interface that makes feeder set up easier, faster, and more accurate. IFS-X2 allows for inventory control and features a closed-loop system that tracks the entire material flow and production process for error-free production and traceability with RFID technology. IFS-X2 features a graphical set-up wizard that leads the operator through the entire process from retrieving a reel from stock through feeder loading. On- and off-line feeder banks are networked for fast feeder locating. The closed-loop system checks for accurate set-up before production can be run. The system updates inventory when new and used reels are received. Component count is done in real time. The Web services interface allows real-time communication to all ERP systems. 1 or 2D barcodes are scanned on incoming production boards, and all components placed on the PCBs are recorded into a database. The passive RFID tags can store more data and are more reliable in reading than the classic barcode. IFS-X2 system uses this technology for data transfer between the feeder and the feeder trolley. Juki also will highlight its KE2070 high-speed chip shooter. Juki Automation Systems, Booth 759.

The Ultra also features paste height, area and volume measurements with Gage R&R <10%. CyberOptics Corporation, Booth 2071.
The Sayaka Router from Seika
PCB DepanelizerSayaka PCB routers provide PCB depaneling through with a router bit that minimizes stress on components. The high-speed spindle included in the machine speeds up cutting and maintains precision; it also cuts flexible panel designs with various cutting patterns. The PCB depanelers also will cut down on bit replacement with the router bit depth adjustment system, which automatically shifts up to 5 depth levels. The PCB router bit maximum cutting speed is 50 mm per second; traveling speed is a maximum of 800 mm per second. The built-in fixture-based dust vacuum system ensures that the system is clean and efficient and helps prevent warping. The image processing software is designed to be simple and automatically compensates for alignment with a CCD camera. Frame structure and the spindle motor operate on an X, Y and Z axis, while ceramic bearing is integrated to provide 60,000 rpm for spins. Key system features include low-stress depanelization, fixture-based highly efficient dust vacuum system, clean and precise depanelization for densely populated PCBs. Seika Machinery Inc., Booth 1035.
Cleaning ProductsThe Surface Mount Clean Machine (SMT09) was redesigned and incorporates full static monitoring to ensure that static levels on outgoing boards are below set levels. The machine is combined with Nanocleen silicone-free contact cleaning system. Nanocleen can remove particles down to 25nm in size, removes 25-50% more particles than other contact cleaners and reduces static by a factor of 10 compared to traditional contact cleaners. The CM8 2009 builds on the CM8 platform with new thin film module and Nanocleen cleaning core. A low-cost table-top double-sided system, The DeskTop Clean Machine, offers Nanocleen as well, on a semiautomatic compact sheet cleaner.
