From printer manufacturers to EMS providers, distributors, and industry associations, the news includes promotions, awards, new contracts, and global expansion.
In personnel news, Materials distributor Krayden Inc. appointed Jill White as the eastern area sales manager. White has been with Krayden since 2006, and brings 10 years of experience in the polymer sales area industry. DEK named CK Khor as engineering manager in China, leading a group of production and design engineers in support of the production assembly/test process, supply chain management, new product introduction, and related projects. CyberOptics Corporation promoted Steven DiMarco to VP & GM, inspection systems business, which produces AOI and solder paste inspection systems for the global electronics industry. AMD appointed Emilio Ghilardi as senior VP and GM of Europe, Middle East, and Africa (EMEA). Alberto Macchi, corporate VP of sales and marketing for EMEA, is leaving to pursue new opportunities. TRUMPF CANADA named James Rogowski as managing director.
PCB makers and SMT assemblers made the news this month. EMS provider Jabil implemented Seratel's Reel aMounts component counting and labeling systems globally. Mike Winship joined CCMP Inc. as VP of European sales to better serve PCB fabricators in that market.
Expansions were everywhere in the supplier sector. Essemtec increased its production capacity. More than 1220 sq.m. were added, including production space, office rooms, and a large canteen. The new two-storied building has the FLX and CSM production department occupying the ground floor, with engineers and product managers on the first floor. A-Laser, a division of FCT Assembly, increased its laser cutting capacity with an LPKF Microline 600 laser system, used to process ultra-thin materials. Rohm and Haas Company began operations at its high-technology plant in Querétaro, Mexico. The goal is to develop a center of technology and services by increasing presence in Mexico, Andean countries, Central America, and the Caribbean. The company expects growth between 10 and 15% in the region.
Hal Hendrickson, GM and national sales manager of the Americas for Dage Precision Industries, a Nordson company, was elected to the SMTA Board of Directors. Hendrickson has been an active SMTA member since 1991. Kyzen's Erik Miller presented "Quantifying Cleaning Relevance When Manufacturing Lead-free Printed Circuit Board Assemblies," at an SMTA Penang chapter meeting.
In distributor news, Allied Electronics, a subsidiary of Electrocomponents plc, launched a redesigned Website, www.alliedelec.com with most popular product categories on the home page, a new layout to make product information and top accessories more visible, and a new quick order portal featuring AJAX technology. Allied Electronics also was recognized as "Distributor of the Year" by Crydom. Allied stocks a full range of Crydom relays and modules. Digi-Key Corporation will distribute Future Technology Devices International Limited's (FTDI's) USB-centric ICs, firmware, and driver software globally. Cobar Europe BV, a member of the Balver Zinn Group, chose WKK Distribution Ltd to represent its XF3 SN100C solder paste and advanced flux systems in China, Thailand, the Philippines, Vietnam, Malaysia, Taiwan, and India.
