Following are the new components, software packages, thermal interface materials, and production accessories for electronics manufacturing from Blue Thunder, Laird, AVX, Aegis, and more.
Nitrile GloveCarbon-infused and ESD-safe, the black nitrile glove is a plug-in alternative to the standard blue nitrile gloves commonly found on electronics production floors. Operators' hands come into contact with ESD-sensitive product more than any other part of their bodies, so the gloves add extra protection for this critical contact. The products target ESD-controlled environments. Blue Thunder Technologies Inc., East Windsor, Conn., www.bluethundertechnologies.com.
Phase Change Material for IntelTwo T-pcm phase-change thermal interface materials (TIMs), T-pcm 670 and T-pcm 680, are optimized for Intel's Penryn Quad-core mobile processor. The material formulation softens at regular chip operating temperatures to fill the microscopic irregularities found in the surfaces of the microchip package and heatsink. The proprietary mix of thermally conductive fillers and resins minimizes resin migration and pump-out to extend the lifetime of the electronic device. The phase-change materials are inherently tacky for easy application and flexible for handling. They are engineered to improve functionality and processing speeds and meet the demanding thermal, reliability, and cost requirements of applications in computer notebooks, desktops, and servers. All T-pcm phase change TIMs exceed RoHS requirements. Laird Technologies, a unit of Laird PLC, St. Louis, Mo., www.lairdtech.com.
Data-reporting SoftwareData Miner 2.0 data reporting software for manufacturing streamlines how manufacturing engineers, managers, and corporate executives access volumes of manufacturing information and create reports. It allows users to retrieve, visualize, interrogate, and report on process, quality, production WIP, traceability, and performance information without IT assistance. Reports are saved for later use, and the system can generate and send a report automatically. Data Miner supports an entire SPC engine. It can be used alone or with the company's real-time operations dashboard solution iMonitor. Aegis Software Corp., Horsham, Pa., www.aiscorp.com.
Amkor Dummy ComponentThe Amkor FusionQuad is a leadframe-based plastic package with ExposedPad QFP and MLF technologies. FusionQuad is based on the addition of exposed bottom lands within a standard VQFP package format, for increased lead count in a small form factor. It provides short signal paths to the bottom lands and high power dissipation capability with the solderable exposed die attach paddle. The package's footprint allows for the use of low-cost PCBs in the end application due to the space available for coarse routing vias between the bottom lands and the outer peripheral leads. The dummy components are not FR4 mock-ups; they are made equal physically to live counterparts without a die. Practical Components, Los Alamitos, Calif., www.practicalcomponents.com.
Wet Electrolytic Tantalum Capacitor SeriesA wet electrolytic tantalum capacitor features a proprietary high-capacitance cathode system that enables high-CV designs, beyond the values specified in the Mil-PRF-39006 drawing. Designated the TWA, the wet electrolytic tantalum capacitor series is manufactured and tested to the 93026 specification, and withstands the harsh shock and vibration requirements of 39006. The TWA design includes a welded tantalum can and header assembly that provides a hermetic seal to withstand harsh environments. The TWA features an operating temperature range of -55°C to +125°C. Capacitance and voltage packages include size T1 (A case, up to 10uf in 125VDC) through T4 (E case up to 150uf in 125VDC). AVX also offers customized capacitance and voltage packages. AVX Corporation, Myrtle Beach, S.C., www.avx.com.
