SMT VISION Awards Show Packs the Room
December 31, 1969 |Estimated reading time: 1 minute
On April 2, 2008, during the APEX conference and exhibition in Las Vegas, the annual SMT VISION Awards ceremony packed the room until attendees overflowed into the hallway. The joyful event began with a welcoming speech by our publisher David Barach, followed by my keynote address. It then was on to a boisterous recognition of leadership and innovation.
The audience comprised award entrants, industry suppliers, university professors, judges, board members, and the SMT magazine staff members. Everyone was ready to raise a champagne glass to successful innovation. It was a night that all will remember.
Every year, the award ceremony is a bit different. For instance, this year both finalists and winners were recognized at the event. Since the location was Las Vegas, a certain atmosphere of fun and fellowship surrounded the event. There were more entries than in any previous editions of the VISION program for the premier recognition in electronics. Competition between companies to win these coveted awards was evident. Yet, as representatives walked to the podium to receive their crystal awards, congratulatory goodwill and celebration of all innovation took over.
We salute the visionaries in our industry. Congratulations to all winners and finalists in the 16th annual VISION Awards. We look forward to the pioneers who will enter next year. Once again, we will give you the honor that you deserve. We look forward to seeing you in Las Vegas in 2009.
