Nepcon China Kicks Off in Shanghai
April 8, 2008 |Estimated reading time: 5 minutes
SHANGHAI, China Nepcon China, April 811 in Shanghai, will feature China-based and international exhibitors targeting the evolving Asia manufacturing base. Traditional low-mix/high-volume, medium- to high-mix/high-volume, and test-and-inspection are the focus of many exhibitors in this market. Following are some top products to look for at the show.
Assembléon will highlight its recently upgraded MG-8R alongside AX-501 and AX-201 pick-and-place machines. The MG-8R uses the same intelligent tape feeders as the A-Series platform. The cost-effective MG-8R is said to offer zero defect performance. It is an end-of-line machine for high-mix production, and places chips as well as complex and odd-form components. This targets in-line production for industrial, consumer, automotive, and other industries. A 3D co-planarity camera, side view camera, and optional "Force Control" combat placement defects. All modules verify the condition of the placement nozzles, and there is a standard nozzle cleaning system. The modules constantly self-calibrate to eliminate thermal instability from changing production environments. There is also off-line setup and feeder exchange trolley verification. The A-Series uses true parallel placement, having multiple heads that place up to 121,000 CPH (IPC9850). Accuracy for complex, fine-pitch, and odd-form components reaches 20 µm at 3 sigma. Product changeovers typically take less than 6 min. The machines can be integrated into logistics control infrastructures. www.assembleon.com. Booth 1D01.
The MV-3 desktop AOI from Mirtec.MIRTEC Co. LTD. will showcase its complete line of inspection solutions. MV-3L desktop AOI is a five-camera desktop system, each with 2-megapixel native resolution. The system's propietary "Quad Angle Lighting System" provides four independently programmable zones for optimal illumination of inspection areas. The MV-3L features Intelli-Beam laser system to measure Z heights on inspection areas, for coplanarity testing of BGA/CSP devices as well as enhanced solder paste measurement capability. Mirtec will highlight the MV-6L in-line AOI system with 2-megapixel digital color camera technology. It also boasts an optional Side Viewer camera system to provide enhanced inspection capability. The MV-6L Duo provides two inspection stations in tandem. The first robot is configured for vision inspection; the second is configured with the Intelli-Scan system for laser PCB inspection. Mirtec also will demonstrate the MX-9C automatic X-ray inspection machine. This system provides real-time X-ray of defects on BGA/CSP devices. Automatic Teaching software provides reportedly rapid AXI programming. The software interface allows the display of multiple images simultaneously as well as a method for capturing additional sample images. www.mirtecusa.com. Booth 4F10.
Zestron will highlight FAST cleaning technology. Fast Acting Surfactant Technology (FAST) based cleaning agents are a proprietary mix of surfactants that remove lead-free and eutectic flux residues. FAST agents reportedly provide shorter contact times and require less active ingredients to remove contaminants. The solid-free formula leaves no residues on substrate surfaces or in equipment. www.zestron.com. Booth 2B-30B.
Essemtec's PANTERA-XV.Essemtec will debut the PANTERA-XV placement system at the show, also introducing its semiautomatic SMT prototyping system EXPERT, and highlighting the SP003-MLV semiautomatic stencil printer with vision and the Nanojet dispensing system. Designed for prototyping and mid-size production runs, the PANTERA-XV placement system is said to offer high placement accuracy and speed, a broad application range, high reliability, and low maintenance costs. It handles 0201s through 50- × 50-mm QFPs and pitches down to 0.4 mm. It has 108 feeder slots and recognizes all intelligent tape and stick feeders automatically. The system places 0201s at up to 4,500 CPH. A magnetic linear measuring system is accurate to 1 µm; alignment is performed with on-the-fly laser and bottom-up vision systems. Another vision system automatically corrects PCB positions and allows component location teach-in. CAD data can be converted directly to assembly programs. www.essemtec.com.
Juki will showcase its FX-3 chip shooter. The system is rated at 60,000 CPH and targets flexibility and ultra-high-speed placement in a compact footprint. It includes quick-change feeder banks and optimization software. The modular system can be used in multiples and with the company's other products. It will be demonstrated with a KE2080 flexible mounter and another FX-3, creating a line with 135,400 CPH and placement capability for 01005s through 50- × 150-mm connectors. It uses LNC-60 high-resolution 360° component laser centering system. www.jas-smt.com. Booth 1E01.
BTU's Pyramax 100N.BTU International will showcase the Pyramax 100N (nitrogen). The Pyramax series of reflow ovens feature closed-loop convection control. The 100N offers 100" heated length and eight zones, 350°C maximum temperature, flexible platform configuration, low nitrogen and power consumption, and various options. The Pyramax 100 provides optimized lead-free processing, according to the company. Side-to-side recirculation reportedly enhances temperature uniformity, and convection efficiency reduces zone temperature set points. Pyramax 100 features user-friendly Windows-based WINCON oven control software, a range of options for flux management, advanced conveyor solutions, and smart-tracking SMEMA. It comes with BTU's parts identification software standard and has barcode capability available. www.btu.com. Booth 1D05-A, with Kasion Automation.
Trident 3 from Aqueous.Aqueous Technologies Corp. will introduce the Trident, its fourth-generation automatic defluxing system. The Trident is capable of removing flux residues including rosin, no-clean, and water-soluble both leaded and lead-free, or mixed. Its automatic post-reflow defluxing process comprises prewash, wash, rinse, cleanliness testing, and drying. Trident's automatic chemical injection system adds a programmable volume of defluxing chemical to the wash water. Prewash offers steam soak, high-pressure DI water spray, or chemical spray and soak. Rinse is controlled by the built-in cleanliness tester. The Trident includes a closed-loop wash solution recycling system. Defluxing and cleanliness testing occurs on up to 200 101- × 152-mm boards and up to 28 457- × 508-mm boards per hour. The user interface delivers instructions in seven languages. Machines can be fixed remotely on a real-time basis. www.aqueoustech.com. Booth 2E02, with distributor Shanghai Jamron Electronic Engineering.
BPM Microsystems will showcase the Flashstream flash vector programming system, together with the automated Helix tabletop handling system. The Flashstream Vector Programming System, a four-socket manual device, is equipped with a proprietary Vector Engine, offering flash programming of NAND or NOR. Vector Engine uses a co-processor design to accelerate flash memory waveforms. Faster speeds are achieved using synchronous operations that eliminate dead times when a DUT waits on the programmer. For memories up to 32 Gbit, the system has an upgradeable RAM. www.bpmmicro.com. Booth 1D15, with distributor Kasion Automation Limited (KAL).
