Fine-pitch Sockets
December 31, 1969 |Estimated reading time: 4 minutes
Centurian high-performance, ultra-fine-pitch sockets are designed for both through-via and Tessera μPILR packages. The sockets have contract grid spacing as narrow as 0.25 mm. Applications include through-via contacts for stacked chips, enabling burn-in and test before stacking. Socket contactors are offered in clamshell, pneumatic actuator, and area-array configurations. Centipede Systems, San Jose, Calif., www.centipedesystems.com.
Laser Stencil Cutting System
The StencilLaser G 6080 is an enclosed laser cutting system for SMT stencils that adjusts to fit stencils up to 29.1 × 37.4&rdqou;. It is constructed using a high-strength carbon fiber material, yet is light-weight. The loading routine shortens changeover time for loose foils and framed stencils. Engineered with a Class-I laser safety rating, it cuts quickly with ompressed air and oxygen and features touchscreen user interface with multi-level operation software. It has a small footprint and consumes energy at a low level. LPKF Laser & Electronics, Tualatin, Ore., www.lpkfusa.com.
Flame-retardant Epoxy
The 50 3150 FR black epoxy with catalyst 190 and 105 is a low-viscosity, thermally conductive, and flame-retardant epoxy for potting and encapsulating. It is designed to provide electrical insulation while transferring heat away from hot components. The 50 3150 passes UL94-V-0. It comes in quarts, gallons, and five-gallon pails. Epoxies, Etc?, Cranston, R.I., www.epoxies.com.
Product Identification Labels
The COMPUcal EXCEL series of pressure-sensitive films is designed for labeling products with information for tracking and product identification. This line of label material is UL-recognized and offers resistance to smudging, scratching, moisture, chemicals, and solvents. The high-performance permanent acrylic adhesive on the label film meets the need for durability in harsh environments and adheres to a variety of surfaces including low- and high-surface-energy plastics. FLEXcon Company, Inc., Spencer, Mass., www.flexcon.com.
Mini Laser Marker
The PRO 1812 is a small tabletop laser marking station that uses a 25-W, coherent CO2 laser. The air-cooled package marks text, numeric values, graphics, and barcodes. A PC with graphics package and barcoding software is included with the machine. The PRO 1812 can be used for prototyping or marking small batches of PCBs. It also marks or engraves anodized aluminum, cerdec metals, glass, marble, laser brass plates, and more. Both 35- and 45-W lasers also are available. Promation Inc., Pleasant Prairie, Wis., www.pro-mation-inc.com.
Cleanliness Tester
The C3 Cleanliness Tester is designed to determine the volume, location, and identification of contamination with an optional IC test. This unit helps evaluate specific areas of circuitry or sensitive components that could hold concentrated pockets of contamination. These areas are overlooked by some other testing methods designed to examine the whole board. Etek Europe, Knoweside, Maybole, U.K., www.etek-europe.com.
Pin Grid Array Extractor
This component removal system is designed to allow quick and safe extraction. The tool is available in two- or four-grip models. Adjusting the extractor to match pin grid array dimensions is performed using the adjustable grip claws with screw lockdowns. During extraction, the grip claws hug the socket from underneath component edges. The extractor is designed to remove the array from a socket without slipping as the operator turns the extraction screw. FKN Systek, Framingham, Mass., www.fknsystek.com.
Voltage Controlled Oscillator
The CVCO55CL-0902-0928 voltage controlled oscillator (VCO) operates from 902 to 928 MHz with a control voltage range of 0.5 to 4.5 V. This VCO features a phase noise of -115dBc/HZ at 10 KHz offset with good linearity. It is manufactured in industry-standard 0.5 × 0.5&rdqou; SMT packages. Input voltage is 5.0 V with a max current consumption of 20 mA. Pulling and pushing are minimized to 2.0 MHz/V. It suits digital radio equipment, fixed wireless access, satellite communication systems, and base stations. Crystek Corp., Ft. Myers, Fla., www.crystek.com.
SMD Ceramic Crystals
The B-Series SMD ceramic crystals for consumer electronics are RoHS-compliant and available in a range of package sizes. The 2.5 × 2.0 mm and 3.2 × 2.5 mm components are designed for digital video, digital still cameras, PDA, PC, office automation, wireless, and audio devices. The packages are shock-resistant and can survive high-temperature reflow. Bliley Technologies Inc., Erie, Pa., www.bliley.com.
Solder Paste Inspection System
The KY-8030 in-line solder paste inspection from Koh Young Technology is designed for high-mix/low-volume applications. It uses an optical and image processing technology and feedback tools. The system has parametric inspection algorithms and delivers results based on 100% inspection of paste deposits. Programming should take 15 min. with operator training. Christopher Associates Inc., Santa Ana, Calif., www.christopherweb.com.
Selective Fluxing System
The KISS-104F in-line fluxer is an intelligent system that enables fluxing of specific components. The board enters on the edge conveyor located in a known position and flux is applied using X/Y motion under programmable control. The board then proceeds to the next station for preheating, or directly into the KISS-104 for selective soldering. KISS-104F is a high-speed in-line selective fluxing system that works with selective soldering. ACE Production Technologies Inc., Spokane Valley, Wash. www.ace-protech.com.
