APEX Product Highlights: From the Show
December 31, 1969 |Estimated reading time: 2 minutes
Following is a select preview of products on display at IPC Printed Circuits Expo/APEX/Designers Summit. The exhibit opens tomorrow, April1, in Las Vegas, and will host new products and technologies through April 3.
Flying ProberThe Pilot V8 represents a double-sided flying prober with vertical architecture, enabling high speed and precision probing on both sides of the UUT simultaneously, according to the company. It is equipped with eight electrical flying test probes (four on each side), two Openfix capacitive and two power flying probes, plus two CCD cameras (1 on each side, respectively). The Pilot V8 has 14 mobile resources available to test the UUT, with a full range of in-circuit (ICT) and functional test (FT) capabilities. The Pilot V8 can implement a series of net-oriented measurement techniques based on measurements executed on the board signal nets, reportedly maintaining the same level of fault coverage and diagnostic information available in slower conventional ICT. The mobile power probes enable UUT power-up without additional fixed cables. The prober executes parallel tests on two UUTs at the same time and is based on the proprietary VIP platform. Updated Manufacturing SoftwareExtensively redesigned, the Version 7.0 manufacturing operations system (MOS) software addresses the growing need in high-reliability markets for comprehensive data visibility and product/process traceability. V7 builds on the company's MOS concept of joining process planning and launch technology with factory execution. It also provides "actionable" real-time dashboards and analytics, within one system and on a single data model. An activity-centric Web-browser-based interface provides a single access point for all manufacturing operations personnel, and delivers shop floor materials verification, paperless documentation, product tracking, interactive traceability, quality and repair, defect visualization, test and diagnostics, pack-out control, real-time monitoring, SPC, and reporting. The user environment provides upgraded productivity-enhancing features to the manufacturing environment and more simplicity and speed. iMonitor 2.0 enables users to design real-time performance, quality, materials, and production dashboards, drawing on the real-time data feeds from the standards-based data acquisition system xLink. For interactive traceability, V7 offers an online environment for exploring both forward and reverse traceability. For detailed historical analysis, the Data Miner allows users to graphically explore the MOS data, visualize this data graphically, and then publish it in a report. Aegis V7 spans planning and process design activities, extending through typical MOS, and including an array of data fulfillment and monitoring systems, according to the company. Mid-tier Assembly PlatformThe AdvantisX is a new-generation, lower-cost surface mount platform designed for consistent and repeatable performance across a wide range of product requirements. AdVantisX targets the mid-tier assembly sector. It features a proprietary linear motor positioning system. The AdVantisX lineup includes single- and dual-gantry high-speed models with Lightning Head technology. AdVantisX also delivers several multifunction configurations using Inline7 and Inline4 High Force flexible heads. Universal Instruments, www.uic.com. Booth 1471.
