IPC Releases Board Ballot

BANNOCKBURN, Ill. IPC Association Connecting Electronics Industries announced nominations for the IPC Board of Directors elections, which will take place at the IPC Annual Meeting luncheon, April 1, 2008, in Las Vegas, during APEX. Three officer and 10 director positions are open for election on IPC's Board for the period of April 2008 through March 2010.
Nominees were selected by IPC's Nominating and Governance Committee and approved by the Board of Directors. Each candidate has excellent experience and their backgrounds are diverse. Each is regarded as an industry leader, said Denny McGuirk, IPC president.
Officer nominations include:Chairman: Nilesh Naik, CEO, OneSource Group, Dallas, Texas. A Board member since 2001, Naik has been involved in the EMS industry for the past 19 years. He is a past chairman of the IPC PCB Management Council Steering Committee and serves as Board Secretary/Treasurer.
Vice Chairman: Bob Ferguson, VP, Rohm and Haas Company; and president and business unit director, Circuit Board Technologies, Rohm and Haas Electronic Materials, Shanghai, China. Ferguson has been on the IPC Board of Directors since 2005. He participated on numerous committees including the Process Consumables Statistical Subcommittee, chaired the IPC Printed Circuits Expo Trade Show Subcommittee, and was vice chair of the IPC PCB Suppliers Council. Ferguson joined the IPC Board in 2005.
Secretary/Treasurer: Steve Pudles, president and CEO, OnCore Manufacturing Services, Springfield, Mass. Pudles was a founding member of the Assembly Market Research Council Steering Committee and currently chairs the EMS Management Council. He has been a member of the Board since 2000.
Nominated to return for another two-year term:Peter Bigelow, president, IMI, Inc., Haverhill, Mass. Bigelow has been a Board member since 2004 and also served from 1998 to 2001. Bigelow is a member and chairman of the IPC PCB Management Council Steering Committee.
Mike Carano, VP, marketing and strategic development, OMG Electronic Chemicals, Maple Plain, Minn. Carano has been active in IPC for more than 20 years. Carano serves on the Executive Market & Technology Forum and PCB Suppliers Steering Committees and has been a Board member since 2004. In addition, he chairs the Process Consumables Statistical Subcommittee.
Mike Brown, CEO, Micro Dynamics, Eden Prairie, Minn. Brown has been active in IPC for more than 10 years. He chaired the Minnesota Project Innovation and participated in the Minnesota High Technology Council and SMTA. He founded Micro Dynamics in 1981. Brown began his first term on the Board in 2006.
Joe O'Neil, president, Hunter Technology Corporation, Santa Clara, Calif. A Board member since 2006, O'Neil has chaired several IPC/CCA Sacramento Days and has been active in the IPC and California Circuits Association for nearly 15 years. O'Neil is a member of the IPC PCB Management Council Steering Committee.
Don Schroeder, president, CTS Electronics Manufacturing Solutions, Moorpark, Calif. Schroeder has extensive international business experience and currently has responsibility for CTS's operations in six countries on three continents. Schroeder chairs the Executive Market & Technology Forum Steering Committee. Schroeder was elected to his first term on the Board in 2006.
Alan Wong, president and CEO, Aavid Thermalloy LLC., Concord, N.H. Wong has more than 20 years experience in the electronics industry including manufacturing of flexible printed circuits, electronics assemblies, connectors and micro-electronic packaging products. Wong assisted with the set-up of IPC's China operations and served on the Board of IPC's Wholly Owned Foreign Enterprise in China. Wong became an IPC Board member in 2006.
Paul Langston, CEO, Coretec, Inc., Scarborough, Ontario, Canada. Langston has been on the Board since 2003. Langston is an active member of the IPC PCB Management Council and has been a member of the Young President's Organization since 1993. Langston has been on the IPC Board since 2003.
Nominees for first-time terms are:Robert Black Jr., president, CEO, Juki Automation Systems, Inc., Morrisville, N.C. Black has nearly 35 years of senior executive management experience in the circuit board and semiconductor industries. He was co-founder of SMEMA and author of the IPC/SMEMA fiducial mark and mechanical interface standards. While on SMEMA's board, he worked to merge with IPC and helped found the APEX exhibition. Black chairs the IPC SMEMA Steering Committee.
Rex Rozario, executive chairman, Graphic, Plc, Devon, United Kingdom. Rozario is a graduate electronics engineer and worked with the inventor of the printed circuit, Dr. Paul Eisler. He has worked in the PCB industry from its inception, 53 years ago. Active in the IPC PCB Management Council, Rozario was a founding member of the PCIF in the United Kingdom and chairs the European Institute of Printed Circuits.
Zhou Xin, senior director, Advanced Technology Research & Development, Huawei Technologies, Shenzhen, China. Zhou has 20 years of technical and research experience in electronics manufacturing with extensive knowledge in board assembly research, board design engineering and packaging. He is also a six sigma quality trainer (green belt). Zhou has been very active in IPC's standards activities (TG Asia) in China.
