Sono-Tek Creates Strategic Business Units
March 10, 2008 |Estimated reading time: 1 minute
MILTON, N.Y. Sono-Tek Corporation formed two strategic business units (SBUs) reporting to Joseph Riemer, Ph.D., president. The SBUs comprise electronics and advanced energy, and ultrasonic coating solutions. The company also hired additional sales and applications development staff to complement the realignment.
The electronics and advanced energy unit is headed by Steve Harshbarger. The company has developed spraying and coating applications customized for the advanced energy industries. In particular, Sono-Tek targets fuel cell and photovoltaic/solar industries with transfer efficiencies and sophisticated controls.
The second SBU, ultrasonic coating solutions, will be led by Luis Abarca. Through technology transfer from its portfolio of industrial applications, Sono-Tek is introducing spraying and coating solutions for a series of major global corporations in the medical industry that include stent coating, blood collection tubes coatings, and ultrasonic spray drying of actives. Sono-Tek also will go after textile, glass and ceramics, and food packaging industries with this unit.
Sono-Tek has doubled the size of its marketing and sales organization, which will identify, contact, and introduce new customers to these capabilities. "We have added application development engineers to our team, and modernized our laboratory and pilot plant so that we can readily demonstrate the value of our technology to these customers," said Riemer.
