Enthone Plating Lab Opens
February 22, 2008 |Estimated reading time: 1 minute
WEST HAVEN, Conn. Enthone Inc., a business of Cookson Electronics, opened its advanced plating applications laboratory at the West Haven facility, inviting local government officials to celebrate with employees and customers. Enthone began construction on the facility in July 2007.
The lab houses multiple high-performance plating lines for Enthone coatings. Dedicated lines include plating-on-plastics, copper/nickel/chrome plating, passivation processes, surface prep, zinc and zinc-alloy plating, electroless nickel, PWB fabrication, and others.
The mission of the lab covers evaluation and validation of Enthone processes prior to beta-site field testing; training and demonstrations of process capabilities to Enthone personnel and select customers; identification and implementation of best processing methodologies and operating windows for new and emerging technologies; collaborative work with key customers; and training via internship programs established with universities and colleges.
The West Haven Applications Laboratory also will serve as the central location for the Enthone Americas Plating Academy, the training program for employees and select customers. Training modules range from obtaining a basic understanding of Enthone processes to acquiring comprehensive, advanced training and specific troubleshooting and preventative maintenance procedures for a particular application. The West Haven lab is operated by Enthone's Corporate Plating Academy engineers and chemical technicians.
At the opening, Congresswoman Rosa L. DeLauto and West Haven Mayor John. M. Picard spoke on the company's investment in North America. Steven Corbett, CEO, Cookson; Huub van Dun, president, Enthone; and Terrence Copeland, VP, Enthone Americas presided over ribbon cutting, tours, and a celebratory luncheon.
