PROMATION Bolsters Wave, Buffer Lines
February 7, 2008 |Estimated reading time: Less than a minute
PLEASANT PRAIRIE, Wis. PROMATION added features to its assembly tools, enhancing the OUC-500 wave conveyor with fan banks and the SCBL-99 buffer station with upgraded software. The additions suit better process control and lead-free line management.
PROMATION's OUC-500 wave unload flat belt conveyor is variable speed, 500-mm wide, and handles PCBs up to 17.7" wide. Open framing allows adjustment to most wave-exit and offload heights. PROMATION added three banks of cooling fans nine fans in total which targets higher-temperature lead-free assemblies coming out of wave/reflow.
The SCBL-99 15-slot vertical buffer controls line flow with three modes of operation: last in/first out (LIFO), first in/last out (FILO), and PASS through conveyor. Its upgraded software has a hold-and-release timer and system status monitor. Hold-and-release allows assemblers to select a minimum buffer time prior to transfer, which can help control varying line flows or allow PCBs to cool properly prior to final inspection. System status monitoring lets operators review various metrics on one screen, including buffer slots taken and available, pitch selections, mode, SMEMA flow control, and other parameters.
