Plexus Chooses AXI System
February 5, 2008 |Estimated reading time: Less than a minute
SANTA CLARA, Calif. Agilent Technologies Inc. supplied EMS provider Plexus with a 3D automatic X-ray inspection (AXI) system. Plexus added the Medalist ×6000 to its test-and-inspection equipment, using the system to detect defects and screen new products.
The Medalist 3D AXI completes the company's test-and-inspection equipment strategy, said Gary Simpson, engineering and manufacturing manager, Plexus. The EMS provider has 2D X-ray already. The company will use its Medalist ×6000 system for medical and high-end industrial assemblies, which are driving process control and inspection requirements, he added.
The system reportedly allows efficient volume processing, doubling throughput. It provides defect detection above 90% on highly complex boards, according to the companies.
