IPC Designers Summit Focuses on Learning
January 17, 2008 |Estimated reading time: 1 minute
BANNOCKBURN, Ill. IPC Association Connecting Electronics Industries will present its 2008 Designers Summit, in conjunction with APEX, March 31 through April 3 in Las Vegas. The program includes workshops and exams for certifications, Designers Day, technical presentations, and networking.
The Designers Summit incorporates a host of design-specific activities and educational sessions to provide designers with the tools and information necessary to stay competitive and in demand, note event organizers at IPC. Certified interconnect designer (CID) and advanced certified interconnect designer (CID+) workshops and exams will occur prior to the Summit, March 2729. The three-day professional development program offers an extensive array of full- and half-day courses specific to PCB layout designers.
On March 31, Designers Day dedicates a full-day focus on the latest design issues, including the risks and rewards of high-density interconnect (HDI) technology, the problems and solutions found in high-speed designs and signal integrity, applying the latest embedded passive technology in PCBs, material selection in the lead-free environment, a design for manufacture (DfM) overview, and updates on the future of the U.S. design industry.
Panel discussions and a networking reception will encourage peer interaction, ideas-sharing, and exchanges of experiences and knowledge, adds Jean Hebeisen, IPC Designers Council and professional development director.
The show's technical conference rounds out the week, April 13, with sessions covering a spectrum of topics. Through a competitive abstract review, speakers were selected, many from outside of the U.S., to present research findings with a global impact. Topics range from supply chain concerns and eco-compliance to process issues, materials, and advanced technology.
IPC also encourages designers to spend time on the exhibition floor, IPC Printed Circuits Expo, and meet suppliers, manufacturers, and OEMs that influence design choices.
