APEX Hosts iRobot Founder

BANNOCKBURN, Ill. Rodney Brooks, Ph.D., director of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology's (MIT's) computer science and artificial intelligence laboratory, founder of iRobot, and leader in robotics and artificial intelligence, will present the opening keynote of IPC Printed Circuits Expo/APEX/Designers Summit, April 1 in Las Vegas.
Brooks will explore fun, inventiveness, discovery, and leading-edge technology in his talk "Having Fun and Changing the World." His work in the fields of robotics and artificial intelligence provide a basis for exploring the definitions of a thinking, alive, and feeling entity. He also questions the barrier between intelligence and artificial intelligence.
Brooks' company iRobot has met success in military, aerospace, and commercial applications, as well as industrial and scientific markets, and toys. He holds a degree in pure mathematics from Flinders University of South Australia and a Ph.D. in computer science from Stanford University. Brooks is a founding fellow of the American Association for Artificial Intelligence (AAAI) and a fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS).
