Nihon Licenses SN100C Globally
December 6, 2007 |Estimated reading time: Less than a minute
BALVE, Germany and MONTREAL The Balver Zinn Group and AIM each acquired global licenses for the SN100C lead-free alloy developed by Nihon Superior Co. Ltd. Both licenses cover solder paste and wire.
The Balver Zinn Group distributes Nihon's SN100C products from the Atlantic coast of Europe to India. It will develop opportunities presented by the alloy license, according to company representatives.
AIM has formulated compatible flux chemistries for SN100C products for North America and China over the past two years. The company manufactures SN100C bar, wire, and paste solders, as well as liquid fluxes, at plants in North America and Shenzhen, China.
The alloy is a proprietary nickel-stabilized tin/copper alloy based on a eutectic 99.3% tin/0.7 copper/trace nickel formula. It is designed to improve under use in wave soldering applications, as for mass lead-free soldering.
