Henderson: PC Growth Rebounds
November 30, 2007 |Estimated reading time: Less than a minute
LOS ALTOS Personal computers (PCs) are on pace to hit 264 million unit shipments in 2007, according to the Henderson Forecast Summary from Henderson Ventures. Low-cost shipments to emerging economies and growing acceptance of Microsoft's Vista operating system (OS) are propelling growth. The introduction of WiMax also is helping push consumers to invest in new units.
Q'03 shipments rose 15.5% over the same period in 2006, Henderson reports. Overall, the industry will see 11.6% growth. The forecasters see a two-year cycle continuing through 2009 without a major decline in expected growth. While Vista's and WiMax's impact will likely peak in 2009, market saturation in traditional and emerging consumer sector likely will offset growth spikes. A 10.2% increase is predicted for 2009.
