Enthone Licenses Catalytic Inks
October 15, 2007 |Estimated reading time: Less than a minute
WEST HAVEN, Conn. Enthone Inc., a business of Cookson Electronics, acquired exclusive global licensing rights to a line of catalytic inks for plating plastics from TECSEN SA (Brussels, Belgium). Enthone will manufacture, market, and sell the inks for use in inductive phone cards, flexible PCBs, RFIDs, and other application sectors, primarily under the EnTRACE brand.
The catalytic ink portfolio is said to improve metallization yields with a range of plastic substrates, and offers a shorter, more environmentally friendly metallization process. It adheres to engineered resins such as ACS/PC, PEI, PET, PA, PBT, PPS, PEEK, PAA, and PS. Enthone referred to the line as high-reliability inks.
Through the licensing agreement, Enthone will expand availability of EnTRACE products via its global manufacturing and service infrastructure, said Stephen J. LaCroce, VP of marketing, Enthone. The company also will allocate R&D to enhancing existing EnTRACE products and developing additional products based on the technology.
