Selective Soldering with Closed-loop Pre-heat Control
September 19, 2007 |Estimated reading time: Less than a minute
ELK GROVE VILLAGE, Ill. The Jade selective soldering system with topside board pre-heating from Pillarhouse uses four individually controlled fast-response, medium-wavelength infrared lamps.
After the top-side pre-heater is enabled, the lamps can be tested using diagnostics function, allowing users to turn individual lamps on and off and control the lamps' power. An optional thermocouple fixed to one of the board-securing arms can also provide closed-loop control where the program target temperature can heat the board under ramp-rate control, and maintains the temperature during soak.
The target temperature is adjustable; the ramp-rate control determines the maximum allowable rate at which the board will heat from the ambient temperature to the target temp. When using the closed-loop system, reports the company, users can choose to use a cooling timer or a temperature setting from the board to unlock the lid and handle the board. Users also can choose between closed- or open-loop operations.
