DEK Opens Manufacturing Facility in Shenzhen
December 31, 1969 |Estimated reading time: 2 minutes
DEK is reinforcing its commitment to the Asian electronics market by opening a new state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Shenzhen, China. Covering an area of 2,600 square meters and featuring production, office, training, and exhibition facilities, the manufacturing center will initially focus on the production of entry-level and medium-range printer platforms. Its output is expected to account for 50% of DEK's total worldwide production by the end of the year.
The grand opening ceremony was held on August 27, 2007, and was attended by representatives from SMTA China, international industry media including SMT and SMT China, and DEK customers and suppliers from around Asia.
"China is an extremely important Asian market for DEK, which is why we believe that the opening of the new Shenzhen Manufacturing Facility is such a positive step," explains John Hartner, CEO of DEK. "As the key part of our 'Expect More' philosophy, the investment equips us to better meet the diverse challenges facing customers in China, Asia-Pacific, and around the world. By driving the development and growth of the electronics manufacturing industry in this key region, the new Shenzhen Manufacturing Facility is great news for our customers and partners who can continue to achieve more by working with DEK and benefiting from our unique know-how."
"In such a fast growing economic environment, it is imperative that the manufacturing industry evolves in line with the needs of its domestic markets," explains Peland Koh, DEK's general manager for Asia. "As a global technology leader, we understand the importance of meeting local market requirements, which is why we have significantly developed our manufacturing capacity in Shenzhen. Enabling our customers in China and beyond to achieve more by partnering with us, this is a further example of why DEK customers all over the world expect more."
TK Wong, general manager of DEK's existing facility will manage the Bao'an site. Commenting on the introduction of the Shenzhen plant, Wong said, "The location of the new facility was chosen for its close proximity to our former site in Shekou. Retaining all the benefits of convenient travel routes for customers and suppliers, the new site provides continuity for our highly skilled workforce 100% of which has already transferred to the new environment. Having invested heavily in our knowledge-base, facilities and resources, we continue to deliver the tools our customers need to drive productivity and business growth."
Koh continues, "Forming part of our 'Expect More' philosophy, our commitment to cultivate business in this region is designed to enhance the exceptional level of service and support that our customers here rely on. The new manufacturing facility in Shenzhen will enable us to maintain a highly responsive service, delivering products and services on a rapid turnaround to meet customer requirements. Having recently expanded our engineering team in Asia, we continue to reinforce our regional infrastructure and innovation focus to ensure we remain at the forefront of industry growth."
