Data-collection Tool Aids in Manual Inspection
September 7, 2007 |Estimated reading time: Less than a minute
PETACH TIKVA, Israel DCollector is a dynamic data-collection tool reportedly gathers defect information accurately. The system, developed by Proventus Technologies Ltd., uses CA data from a PCB to provide layout information to a quality control (QC) inspector.
Advanced inspection technologies such as AOI, ICT, and boundary scan, have their place on the line, but still cannot replace visual manual inspection (VMI), claims Proventus. But manufacturers using VMI often lack the tools to transfer defect data to QC inspectors. DCollector lets the inspector locate a faulty component, and highlights it, making it easier to find and correct the defect on the board. The inspection can then report actions taken in the database.
"DCollector is a significant tool, which assists in procedures where the productivity of inspectors and the quality of their inspection is challenging and difficult to verify," said Jacob Rubin, CEO, Proventus Technologies. "Trying to manually locate a diode on a board containing hundreds of components is a very complicated process." DCollector gives companies using VMI on the line a clear graphical representation of the inspected board and easy-to-receive point-and-click data collection. For information, visit Proventus' Website.
