Manufacturing Monitor Streamlines Operations
August 14, 2007 |Estimated reading time: Less than a minute
EINDHOVEN, the Netherlands Assembléon released the 2.0 version of its A-Series Assembléon Manufacturing Suite (AMS), with an open architecture for connecting to factory-automation software and enterprise-wide systems. The company introduced the module to support SMT manufacturing processes from data preparation through parts warehousing.
Release 2.0 is said to shorten design-to-production and ramp time for disparate products. It offers control of the logistics flow with remote monitoring and performance analysis options. Users can choose an existing line and machine optimization software solution or use a package offered by Assembléon. The company established technical partnerships with several major software vendors to support logistics management.
The AMS module offers data preparation import and edit steps for various computer-aided design (CAD) and bill of materials (BOM) formats. Offline part definition and verification modules target faster new product introduction (NPI). Production scheduling tools reportedly reduce changeover by combining multiple programs into one step. Setup verification, line control, parts library management, and traceability are said to streamline manufacturing processes. Performance-related data can be stored and analyzed, and parts warehousing reports component usage and status of new and empty reels. This is designed to improve inventory management in one or multiple manufacturing locations.
