Enthone Constructs Plating Lab
July 31, 2007 |Estimated reading time: Less than a minute
WEST HAVEN, Conn. Enthone Inc., a business of Cookson Electronics, began construction on its advanced plating applications laboratory in West Haven. The facility will host multiple dedicated plating lines for printed wiring board (PWB) final finishes, connector platings, and other surface finishing techniques.
Expected to be fully operational in September, Enthone's West Haven lab will evaluate and validate processes prior to field beta testing, host training and demonstrations for personnel and customers, and determine best methodologies and operating windows for next-generation and emerging products. The lab is charged with meeting performance, environmental, and end-use requirements for product introductions, said Terrance Copeland, vice president, Enthone Americas. Customers will have opportunity to collaboratively develop custom plating solutions at the facility.
Robert Collin, applications and technology manager, Enthone Americas, will oversee the lab, supervising a corporate technical service group, chemical technicians, and applications engineers and R&D staff. Multiple high-performance lines will process Enthone's coatings, and dedicated lines will serve specific passivation processes, alloys, and surface-prep chemistries. The lab will also house lines for oxide-replacement alternative and metallization processes.
