Speedline Updates Operating Software
July 11, 2007 |Estimated reading time: 1 minute
FRANKLIN, MASS Speedline Technologies launched Benchmark 2.0, the next generation of its proprietary machine operating software, which debuts on the MPM Accela printer. The company promotes this software release as offering post-print inspection enhancements, barcode scanning for product traceability and process verification, singulated processing of indexed Auer boat substrates, and support for CAMX machine data streaming (per IPC-2541 specification).
The Benchmark release includes SpeedVision high-speed inspection architecture. The inspection format is expected to provide improved board area inspection quantitatively, with data displayed graphically per board and device, or output to a database, text file, or CAMX XML format. The software allows print inspection at line speed, and reportedly increases contrast-based pad-coverage inspection speed, as well as texture-based BridgeVision and StencilVision speeds, through full field-of-view processing, rapid image acquisition, and optimized camera travel. Inspection errors trigger a recovery action to maintain printing operations with minimal interruption. Inspection times can be reduced by 4070%, according to the company.
The system integrates an externally mounted barcode scanner that can link a given substrate identification code with statistical process control (SPC) data for product traceability. An available handheld scanner enables process technicians to confirm proper substrate, squeegees, stencil, paste, tooling, and other materials for a given product run.
The Windows-based software retains its graphical user interface (GUI) with step-through tabs to facilitate sequential programming and wizards to guide operators through troubleshooting and utility routines. This interface is said to reduce operator training time and improve machine up-time.
