Stick Magazine Eliminates Manual Feeds
May 30, 2007 |Estimated reading time: Less than a minute
STOCKHOLM, Sweden MYDATA adapted its Agilis design for a next-generation stick magazine targeting high-mix, high-accuracy production. The Agilis stick magazine (ASM) uses a linear drive and servo-controlled horizontal movement to stick-feed components into placement systems. It eliminates manual feed settings with barcoded sticks and non-component-specific feeders.
ASM handles components up 50-mm long, with 28-mm-high sticks. The motion-controlled magazine moves each stick forward, then immediately pulls straight back, advancing components into pick-up position without vibratory feeding. It targets accuracy, speed, and flexibility with a variety of components. The magazine locates pallet and pick-up position automatically; component-specific feeders are not needed. This is said to reduce changeover and set-up times, boosting throughput in high-mix production.
