Northrop Grumman Extends Manufacturing Contract
May 25, 2007 |Estimated reading time: Less than a minute
ST. LOUIS EMS provider LaBarge, Inc., received $2 million in contracts from Northrop Grumman Corp. to continue producing electronic equipment for the AN/AAQ-24(V) NEMESIS directional infrared (IR) countermeasure (DIRCM) system, which is designed to protect military aircraft from IR-guided missiles.
The defense system is modular; a family of components can be "mixed and matched" to suits specific platform, mission, and budget parameters, according to LaBarge. The manufacturer has supported the DIRCM program for about a decade, with prior contracts in excess of $1 million. Under this contract, production will begin in September 2007 at LaBarge's Tulsa, Okla., facility. "We are providing turn-key modular assembly along with testing in our Tulsa location," explained a LaBarge representative. The order should be complete in March 2008.
The EMS provider is ISO 9001:2000 certified and a Northrop Grumman preferred supplier. It manufactures PCB assemblies (PCBAs), cabling, and box build; and provides various testing services. Employees build to numerous Mil Spec parameters and are certified to ANSI J-STD-001.
