Smart Modular Installs Koh Young Paste Inspection System

SANTA ANA, Calif. Christopher Associates, Inc., delivered the eighth Koh Young solder paste inspection system to Smart Modular Technologies' (Fremont, Calif.) manufacturing plant in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. Smart Modular manufactures memory modules and initially deployed the Koh Young systems in its U.S. and Puerto Rican plants for fabricating high-density, fine-pitch assemblies.
Smart Modular uses its eight Koh Young paste inspection systems for a range of applications globally. Joe Hong, Ph.D., director of worldwide operations engineering at Smart Modular, cited the systems' yield improvements and operator interface as reasons for investing in eight machines.Christopher Associates installed more than 60 Koh Young systems in North America; there are about 400 systems in use globally.
