APEX Hosts Pick-and-Place Flexibility
February 22, 2007 |Estimated reading time: 1 minute
LOS ANGELES Pick-and-place companies exhibiting at APEX highlighted modularity, platform flexibility, and placement capabilities down to 01005s. Following are showcased products from Assembléon, Unovis Solutions, and other equipment suppliers.
At Booth 2301, N.Y.-based Unovis Solutions demonstrated the Polaris Jr. flexible assembly cell, configured for odd-form placement and assembly test. The company's process line performed die placement with the Hover Davis direct die feeder (DDf) on an AdVantis XS Lightning platform. A Polaris multi-process final assembly machine offered contouring dispense, inspection, and lid placement.
ESSEMTEC (Glassboro, N.J.) displayed the FLX2010-LCV flexible pick-and-place system for high-mix/low-volume production at Booth 2259. The FLX offers changeover between runs without downtime due to intelligent feeders, a larger feeder capacity, and offline programming and job planning. MIS software, Windows programming, and a graphical interface are integrated for ease of use.
At Booth 2243, Assembléon highlighted the modular A-series pick-and-place solutions, along with installed base solutions (IBS) of value-add products and services. The company demonstrated the AX-201 and 501, both with a range of feeders, trolleys, and placement heads. The assembly systems handle fine-pitch and odd-form components in small or large batches and low or high product mix. The series is said to have a single-digit defects per million (dpm) rate. Interchangeable robot heads, off-line feeder set-up, off-line placement program creation, and a new tray-handling capability are standard. The IBS offerings include Speedpack output upgrades for A-series machines, a performance monitor tool, performance-improvement line-assessment service, and ITF feeder upgrade kits.
