Engineers Receive Design Royalties
February 19, 2007 |Estimated reading time: 1 minute
Engineers Receive Design Royalties SAN CLEMENTE, Calif. Ones & Zeros Technologies, Inc. (OZT), a wholly owned subsidiary of Vertical Acceleration, Inc., will offer perpetual royalties to PCB design engineers upon registration and authorization of new PCB production, under its recently developed compensation plan.
OZT introduced the compensation plan as a business method that allows designers to track, and benefit from, production runs of a registered design, explained Todd Stewart, CEO. Design engineers register at www.MicroGroupPCB.com, for MicroGroup PCB, printed circuit board division of OZT, to obtain a registration ID from the client system. Designers then embed this ID within each PCB design prepared plans, fabrication drawings, Gerber files and affix the ID to the design statement. For any recurring PCB production orders through OZT, if the design has an embedded ID, OZT reports it will identify the original author prior to manufacturing, and provide compensation.
This ID should allow OZT and clients to perpetually track marked designs through recurring production in the future. Upon completion and acceptance of manufacturing, with accepted delivery and receipt of payment, the registered design engineer will be entitled to the predetermined compensation, according to the company. Engineers design well-known commercial, successful products, such as MP3 players and gaming consoles; if a design has continuing success, the PCB design engineer will benefit, said Dan Cwieka, CEO of Vertical Acceleration.
