Acquisition Bolsters Lead-free Rework
February 7, 2007 |Estimated reading time: Less than a minute
LITTLETON, Mass. VJ Electronix acquired Precision Manufacturing Tools (PMT), the SMT rework division of Prodev, Inc., of Seabrook, N.H. VJ Electronix will move manufacturing, primary engineering, and customer support for PMT models to its Littleton facility, which is being updated to support the capacity increase.
PMT products complement VJ's base technology and current product lines, said Don Naugler, general manager at the company. The increase of manufacturing capacity and infrastructure gained in this acquisition will sustain growth of PMT's lines, added Stan Kench, VP and founder of Prodev. Prodev will continue providing contract design services for current PMT products and future rework and X-ray programs.
PMT manufactures lead-free-capable rework systems for BGA, microBGA, chip-scale package (CSP), and discrete-component removal and replacement. The PMT-800 model suits PCBs up to 24 × 36" PMT-400 holds up to 14 × 20" PCBs. VJ Electronix will display a PMT model at IPC Printed Circuits Expo/APEX/Designers Summit, February 2022 in Los Angeles, Calif., at Booth 2637.
