Celestica Reorganizes Sets Sights on Efficiency
February 5, 2007 |Estimated reading time: 1 minute
TORONTO Celestica Inc. appointed John Peri to executive vice president, global operations, responsible for operational excellence in the company's global manufacturing network. Additional personnel changes reflect a realignment around efficiency and clear organization.
Peri previously held the role of president, Asia operations, controlling Celestica's China, Hong Kong, Japan, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, and Thailand manufacturing base. Prior to that, he held senior-level positions in the areas of quality, manufacturing, services, and regional leadership. His experience in Asian operations will allow him to apply best practices across all regions, said Craig Muhlhauser, president and CEO. He will continue to be responsible for the operational performance of the Asia region in his new role. Peri succeeds James Rowan, who has left the business effective immediately.
Guy Delisle will join Celestica to lead operations in Monterrey, Mexico. Delisle, with more than 20 years in electronics manufacturing, came to Celestica from Sanmina-SCI. Delisle will report directly to Craig Muhlhauser. He is expected to return the Mexico site to profitability.
Additional organizational changes reflect a corporate effort to establish more efficiency and align more clearly with the company's business strategy. Celestica defines its goal in this process as creating a streamlined, high-performing organization focused on profitable growth and customer satisfaction. The new design consolidates functions within the current organization, reducing overlap and duplication in roles and driving accountability and agility, said Muhlhauser.
Celestica's corporate strategy team will be aligned with the strategic business development group; Art Cimento, senior VP of corporate strategy, will leave the company. Elizabeth DelBianco will take over global human resources, as well as chief legal officer. Lisa Colnett, senior VP of human resources, will also leave Celestica. The company's sales function will move to appropriate market-segment teams and will be aligned with global customer business units; Robert Sellers, senior VP of global sales, will leave the business. The global engineering and technology organization will align with the operations planning team; Dan Shea, CTO, will retire from the company.
