EMA Acquires Forte Division
January 23, 2007 |Estimated reading time: Less than a minute
ROCHESTER, N.Y. EMA Design Automation acquired the Chronology product division of Forte Design Systems (San Jose, Calif.). The acquisition includes the TimingDesigner product, an interactive timing-analysis tool for high-speed, multi-frequency, and other timing-critical designs. EMA also hired the key product development team from Chronology in the acquisition.
Owning the technology gives EMA better control over direction and integration with its core product offerings, said Manny Marcano, president and CEO of EMA, adding that the move corresponds with the company's goal of providing Cadence customers with comprehensive EDA solutions.
TimingDesigner provides enhanced interfaces for board-level designers using Cadence OrCAD Capture and Allegro PCB design products. The product can evaluate comprehensive sets of timing alternatives and provide direction to complex timing challenges. It enables designers to manage and monitor timing margins throughout design processes.
