Changing Dynamics of the Handset Industry Examined
January 24, 2007 |Estimated reading time: Less than a minute
EL SEGUNDO, Calif. The mobile phone end market is predicted to slow to single-digit growth in 2007; the changing dynamics of the industry may challenge OEMs to remain in-step with evolving brands, features, and content, according to iSuppli Corporation analysts.
iSuppli suggests that more than 40 handset OEMs operate worldwide, 25 of which predict shipments of more than 2.9 million handsets in 2007. iSuppli's Design Forecast Tool tracks and covers the mobile-handset industry.
The industry is growing in all sectors from high-end smart phones with complex components to low-end, high-volume handsets targeting emerging customer markets. iSuppli predicts that new product introduction (NPI), sales, and marketing strategies will create advantages or disadvantages for OEMs in the competitive market.
iSuppli is offering a Webinar, "Winning Handset Designs with Nokia, Motorola, Samsung, Sony Ericsson, and LG," targeting design trends, new features, enhancement areas for NPI, and case studies focused on the handset industry to clarify the complex drivers and challenges facing OEMs in 2007. The Webinar is available at www.isuppli.com.
